Rebecca's book, The Year of Plenty, is very much in the vein of Little House on the Prairie and Spencer's Mountain and I applaud her for continuing the series on into World War Two.
Artistically it is a success. It was like a trip back in time to be present at all those family gatherings and to be reminded of when white bread was a luxury and of all those wonderful Christmas rituals.
One of the things I like so much about the book is it illustrates a time and customs that we seem to have lost. For the most part, people have no manners, families are fractured, and everyone is entitled to do whatever he feels like without any consideration for the next person. Perhaps reading about a time when these practices were not so common will help us recover them.

The Year of Plenty
by Rebecca LeeAnne Brammer
It's a good year on the farm, and six-year-old Odella is eager to take part in all the work needed to keep things running smoothly. Until now, Odella has had a happy life, full of family, fun, stories, and music, with nothing more to worry about than being told she's too young to help. Suddenly, though, circumstances force Odella's brothers and sisters away from the farm. Each goodbye brings Odella greater sadness and heaps more responsibility upon her small shoulders. Odella is glad to be useful, but discovers she would rather have her family back together again than anything. But will her dream be realized?
The Year of Plenty sets the stage for a heartwarming series, The Newcombe Creek Chronicles. Set on an Eastern Kentucky farm on the brink of the Great Depression, The Year of Plenty introduces the delightful Fraleys, who will welcome you as you step into their lives through the pages of this book. The series will follow Odella and her family through the years of the Depression and into World War II. Though faced with economic hardship and personal tragedy, the Fraleys not only survive, but thrive, due to their reliance on faith and family.

Submissions
We are a small publishing company specializing in historical fiction for children and adults, as well as historical nonfiction, particularly as it relates to the study of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her "Little House" books. We will also consider all fiction for children or young adults. We accept submissions by email from both published and unpublished authors without an agent. Our desire is to find and assist new and hopeful authors who are having difficulty getting their books published because major publishing companies will not accept unsolicited manuscripts.
We are not a "self-publishing" company. We will not ask you to pay anything up front to publish your book. We work like a traditional publishing company in that, if we feel you have a product that is marketable, we take the risk of putting it into print at no cost to you. We only earn money if you do as our income is commission-based.
We are also not a large publishing company. We do not have the marketing abilities of larger publishing companies, and we do not provide illustrations. If your book will require illustrations, you are responsible for providing them. We do provide editing and publishing services, and we work closely with the author to ensure a satisfactory final product.
To submit a query: Do not send your manuscript. Simply send a query letter by email describing your proposed book and attach one sample chapter, and we will respond within two weeks letting you know whether or not we are interested in pursuing your project.
